We have a traditional fourth-of-july water balloon fight, usually the older kids spend a few days filling balloons and stocking them in garbage cans. This year, it's just my 12-year-old son and me to fill the dang things. I'm old, and he's got MS and arthritis (coordination-challenged), so we aren't getting very far.

Is there an easier way to fill and tie the little things? Like not tying, but some kind of clip? The little guy has his heart set on a good supply of water balloons but it hurts watching him work so hard for so little.

Thanks.

IU'm not sure there is a very widespread way of doing it. Maybe someone can help with a homemade method or some kind of plug you buy to shove into your hose. I just got real quick with it after a while. Have fun!

There should be a little nozzle that you can screw onto your sink or your hose reel that looks like this:

----
---
-

and you can put a balloon around it and get it to fill really fast - try going to a party-supply store or even a grocery store (around the 4th, they should have them...)

the tying part is always a b!tch. but try strectching the hell out of them before hand and the then filling them and tying. this might be a little easier. or by the balloons that are designed to be water balloons i think they have some that look like grenades and those babies stretch really well making them easier to tie.
hope you two have a blast.

Thanx for the suggestions, we're off to the drug store to see what we can find.

We tried:
twist ties, which are probably even harder than tying
cable ties (with the little applicator), not good enough, the water leaks out
a little jig made of coat hanger, with a crochet hook to try tying with - nope.

Will report back with further experiments.

Has anyone ever filled a condom with water?
I swear those things hold 5 gallons of water before they break.
