How to fight Public Spammers -- Those sign posters...

You know, the ones with the 'We Buy Homes @ Full Value xxx-yyy-zzzz' and 'Loose weight fast' and 'Make $1000/wk working @ Home', etc.

I hate to see my community littered with that crap. I know it's illegal / code violation... but not sure how to legally fight it. I saw someone posting a sign the other day but I imagine reporting it to the police would be useless, they've got better things to do, and I agree w/ that.

Maybe it's just a call to code enforcement?

Things like spray painting over their signs and taking them down yourself are problems, I think I read both of those are potentially / sometimes illegal too (because I don't *really* know who has permission and who doesn't).

if you ask me it falls into the "littering" category

you would have to get somebody to enforce the littering laws in your area, as you said, probably the police

you might try going to a city council meeting and during the open session when members of the public can speak, bring it up, maybe the city council could get the police dept to issue some tickets for littering to the people/businesses listed on the signs

Yes, I hate those things too. Back around October stupid CollegePro Painters (gotta hide the painters part until you get the people hired though) taped papers over all of the Illinois quad. It was quite disguisting to see. I wasn't sure if I could rip them down because I didn't know if CollegePro had somehow gotten permission to do it.

Pull 'em down at night. Spray painting over them only adds to the litter. I'll be willing to bet that over 99% of the signs were not posted though the permit process. I pull as many of these down as I can in my community.

I guess another way of getting even is to set up some kind of auto dialer and spam the crap out of their phone systems at 2:00 in the morning. 😉
