How to extract to txt or doc format my file system?

Hi,
I want to rebuild my filing sytem. For this reason I want to have a hard copy of it, to see all the branches all the major files etc. Is there a way to do it via windows ( I use winxp prosp2) or do I need a special program and where can I find such program?

You could always do a "dir /s > file.txt" that would dump all files and folders to a text file.
There are a few switches for the "dir" command that may be handy.
