How to erase DVD+RW?

I'm using HP DWD-Writer DVD100i. How do I erase a DVD+RW disc using the software that came with it? I burned a disc using the Hp's RecordNow-program. Afterwards I noticed that I must add one file to the disc, but I cannot. I can't append it to the disc, and I can't find a way to erase the contents of the disc and re-write everything.

If I just try to write over the old files, it compains "please insert a blank DVD....". If I choose "always do a full erase on rewritable media", it still refuses to work!

I can't use the DLA, because the written DVD-disc must be readable in all DVD-drives.

What's the point of having DVD-RW-drive and DVD-RW-media if you can't use 'em to rewrite the media!?!
