Question How to erase all data before returning SSD?

Hi, I know that if I want to return a laptop, I just use Windows' reset to factory setting function to erase the data. What if I just return a SSD from a DIY PC to a store? It has Windows 10, some accounts with automatic login installed. Certainly don't want somebody else to gain access to the data.

The way most users sanitize SSDs is to use the SecureErase command. This is available free online, Just do a search for it.

Essentially any full reformat that "wipes" the partition should be suitable for the SSD and most manufacturer's have free downloadable tools that you can use to

see this article on Kingston's support site if you want something simple that doesn't require a booting an OS or recovery environment.

*Avoid tools like DBAN which could actually damage the drive.
