How to Enable the Dictation Feature in Mac OS X

This dictation feature in your Mac system will allow you to talk to your Mac to perform some operations or actions. You can also set some dictation commands to tell the Mac system the action to be done. Dictation commands can be set to undo an operation, selection of the choice or sentence. You can choose your desired language and the shortcut key for the dictation feature operation. Here is how you can enable the dictation feature in your Mac OS X system.

Step 1
Select ‘System Preferences’

The user should select the apple icon which is located at the top left corner of the Mac screen. On clicking, you will find a list of main system settings. Select the ‘System Preferences’ option to view all the useful system related settings.

Step 2
Click on ‘Dictation & Speech’

In the system preferences window, you should choose the ‘Dictation & Speech’ option as shown below to enable the dictation feature and set its corresponding shortcut key for easy access to the dictation feature

Choose ‘Dictation’

In the Dictation & Speech window, you have to click the ‘Dictation’ tab. You will then find settings related to Dictation. Enable the checkbox for dictation by choosing the ‘On’ option. This allows you to use dictation wherever you can type text.

Step 4
Now you should choose the ‘Shortcut’ key from the options or can also customize the shortcut key option. Using this shortcut key, you can use the dictation feature wherever you want to type text in your Mac OS X. Similarly, you can also choose your preferred language.
