I want to setup a ftp server on a machine behind a Linksys router connected to DSL modem (dynamic ip), my goal is to enable PASV mode on the server, I use a serv-u server on the machine in LAN, problem is that serv-u ftp server only sees the local LAN address and would normally report this(192.168.xx) back to the FTP client when the client requests a passive mode data transfer. Given this fact, is it still possible to allow internet users connect to my ftp server inside the LAN? I set the machine with ftp server as DMZ host.

Does anyone know this kind of situation and how to solve this?

P.S. Without PASV mode, it is easy, just forward the ftp server port on the router to my ftp machine. My question is how to solve PASV mode

The only way I found around it was to get a different router. I had one for a bit but ftp wouldn't work from most places, depended on the client, not the network conditions of the client.

You should be able to get by with just port 21 forwarded, but on the linksys you may need to do 20 to get it to work right.
