how to enable middle-button in W2K

Is it possible to make the middle-button act like a doubleclick with my Logitech mouse? This has worked fine in W98SE but I can't get it run in W2K. I know it works with the MouseWare 9.0 but I don't wanna install this... maybe a registry hack?

I'm fairly sure there's no way around it. Install mouseware if you want configurable buttons.

Yeah, it seems so. I searched in tons of websites and newsgroups but there's no way to enable the middlebutton without the mouseware stuff. Why can't a simple reg-hack like in W98 do it?!
