HOW TO ENABLE DMA ON HARDDRIVE

im not sure this is the right forum for this question but then again what is?

i have an ibm deskstar 75gxp 30gb ata 100.... i want to enable dma or check that it is enabled.. can anyone tell me how to do so plz?

In windows 98, go to 'My Computer' in the control panel, and go to 'Hardware Profile'. Find your HDD in the device lists and right click -> properties.

DMA should be in a checkbox there.

Win2K should detect and implement DMA automatically.

Install the 4.33 4-in-1's (minus the AGP driver) and it will enable DMA for you.

Go to control panel, click the system icon, then the device manager tab. scrowl down to drives, highlight the drive you need to enable DMA and click properties. open the settings tab and there should be a DMA checkbox. tick the box and restart your computer. go back and check that the box is still checked, if it is you have enabled DMA on that drive. do the same for your cd-rom as well.

im running windows ME

i went to control panel | system | device manager and theres only hdd controlers, not the actual drive... and i still cant enable dma for the controlers.

i did manage to enable for cdrom though.
