I often evaluate OS (mainly linux distro) by trying them in VirtualBox before installing them. With my rig having 8GB I only install 64bit OS. The thing is, I am currently unable to test 64 bit OS in VirtualBox. So I have to download both 32 bit for VirtualBox testing and 64 bit for installation. Apparently even though my Phenom II X4 955 supports AMD-V, it is not enabled by the BIOS or something.

BIOS has been looked at thoroughly. I am pretty sure that I have looked at every single entry but was unable to find the entry for AMD-V. It is likely to be there but I did not recognize it for what it was.

Any AT forumer can help me out with this ?

CPU : AMD Phenom II X4955
MB : Asus M4A88TD-M/USB3 (880G Chipset)
Windows 7 64bit

hmm weird, it should allow you even if you do not have cpu virtualization support.
The only thing i was able to find is this in the Bios under Advanced -> cpu config -> enable the Secure Virtual Machine Mode. see if that makes a difference. from what i was able to google, that seems to be the amd-v setting
