How to eliminate choice of OS at boot-up?

Hi there,

I put together a SFF computer recently, and since the original CD drive was broken, it botched up my first attempts to install Windows 98 and Windows 2000, until I had it replaced. Then I installed Windows XP, without realizing I should've probably wiped the HD again.

Now every time I start the machine, I'm greeted by that ugly DOS-like screen which prompts me to choose between Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Windows (no details which version).

Can I get rid of this, without having to erase and install everything again from scratch?

Go to C:\ find Boot.ini it is a hidden file open it
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

it is going to look something like this remove the operating system you dont whant or to be safe you can just change timeout to 1 or 0

hmmm.. well, although I made all files visible, and did a thorough search, it appears there's no "boot.ini" file on my HD. Are you sure this is the right name?

I know where you whent wrong go
to c: then tools folder options view show hidden files and folders and
uncheck hide protected operating system files and go to c: boot ini i garante you its there🙂
