How to download Windows Updates!

Is it possible to download (and save) all the Vista Windows Updates once so that one can apply to multiple machines later?

One method would be to simply start Windows Update, follow the link in Update History for each update that's already installed on an up-to-date system (right-click it > Details), download the updates you want, and save them to a directory for later. Another option would be to use Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer (free download).

If you have a domain, you could also use WSUS.

Thanks for the suggestions.

mechBgon,
I am able to download the individual updates as you suggested from an updated PC.
But, I prefer to be able to do this from a PC that is not updated as well.

bwatson, I am not sure what you are suggesting. I do not have a folder named "software distribution"!

SUOrangeman,
Under More new downloads, there are a lot of downloads. I used the search at the bottom of the page and chose "Windows vista" for product and "Windows security and updates" for category.
It found 232 items!

It does not let me filter for the version of Vista (64 in my case). But, that still does not explain 232!

I am puzzled!
There has to be an easy way to do this!

Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer might be your answer.

A domain is not a requirement for WSUS 🙂

I didn't know that. Even better, then 🙂

Nice!
You have answered my question.
Thanks you!

I have a second question.
On some of the links, I am not sure which component I have to download!

This is an example.
http://www.microsoft.com/techn...bulletin/ms07-042.mspx

I have Vista 64 as well as Office 2007.
There are multiple components for Vista 64 and there is also one for 2007 Microsoft Office System on this page. How do I know which one to download?
