Alright, I have a 97 Chevy 1500 with the 4.3 liter V-6 and I want to do a smokey burn out. But HOW!? I can peel out easily but I never get smoke! Is it the tires? They aren't street tires (Bridgestone Dueler A/T) but for the life of me I can't get them to smoke at all. I have sat there and peeled out for 30 or more seconds hoping I don't shred my tires and no smoke. Maybe I'm stupid but I can't get them to smoke any. :( You watch Motor Trend TV or something and they will have a Camaro SS, touch the pedal and smoke just billows(sp?) from the rear tires. I have heard of putting clorox or bleach on the tires and that will smoke them up good. Any ideas?

Thanks

So will bleach really work? I will try that this afternoon then :) Any other suggestions or first hand experiences with doing this?

Don't crap the thread. And if you honestly don't know why people do this then don't ask.

Haven't tried it (not worth it in my pontiac lemans 1.2L), but I've heard it works.

Why do you want to do a Smoky burnout, do you just want to buy new tires or are you just trying to piss off your neighbors? :)

Sweet, that's what I wanna do :) Do you know if he did anything to get his tires to smoke up good?

EDIT: I don't like my neighbors and I don't pay for the tires :p

My Capri with a 351C had no prob making smoke. Bleach on the tires? Would that be comsidered riceing out tires?

I guess so.... considering the whole point is to LOOK cool anyways, it's not like smoking your tires makes you go fast anyways (well unless you are warming them for a drag race, but that's not what he's doing).

Bleach on your tires will eat up the rubber fast, but should get you smoke.

You dont get any smoke at all even for 30 seconds?
I turned my wheel all the way to the right in my 86 parisienne and mashed it, even I got a small (very small) cloud of smoke out of that. But it was a one wheel wonder for the few seconds it was spinning :)

Most people do it to clean and heat up their tires before a Drag Race. You seem to want to do it for a different reason, I was just inquiring as to what that reason would be.

Yeah I'm kinda PO'd that I can't get my tires to smoke. I can spin the tires really easy and leave nice big black strips but no smoke :( How bad would the bleach eat my tires up?

And don't say rice that makes me feel bad :p

Well just spinning your tires will eat them up pretty quickly.

First get the tires wet. Piss on em, spray em with water, whatever.

Brake torque on automatic, or rev the car real high with a manual.... shift (with brake still depressed as hard as you can perhaps 2-3 gears). If you have a limited slip this will help you spin both tires at the same time.

Perhaps it could be the tire compound....but you should still see a bit of smoke...

I have power braked before and no smoke :( I usually can get both tires spinning pretty good, making all sorts of screaching noise and laying black strips as I go along. But no smoke :( Maybe my tires just won't smoke? I will try later after I finish this stupid book.

clutch in, right heel on brake, right toe on gas. rev the truck pretty high, and drop the clutch. keep adjusting your heel so that the truck doesn't move, and your toe so that the revs stay high, but below redline. you should be smoking the tires nicely in a couple seconds. Works great in my mustang, takes a bit of practice, though.

put one foot on the brake, and mash the gas with the other, then. I dunno, never owned an auto :)
