How to divide my harddrive to run both Linux and Windows on a 20 gig harddrive?

Ok, I have a 20 gig harddrive. And I plan to install both Redhat linux and Windows 98 in the least number of partitions possible.

I already tried this partition method of 3 gigs (Linux), 100 megs (Linux swap) and the rest windows. Then I installed windows OS first, and then Linux. However Linux installation failed, saying something about my disk geometry.

Below is my partition table which failed me for a dual Linux/Windows boot:

3 gigs (Linux) - Primary
100 megs (Linux swap) - Primary
16.9 gigs (FAT 32) - Primary, active

Is there anything wrong with this partition setup? I mean I know that Linux needs to be in the first 8 gigs of the harddrive, and my method fits that requirement.

Any other suggestions to setup partitions to have Linux and Windows both work on my 20 gig harddrive?

There is no need for it to be bellow 8G unless you have a really old system.

Keep Windows on the first partition, and make sure you are installing a current version of Linux.
