There's a girl... but I'm having trouble distinguishing her movements...

I over-analyze a lot... so anything I would tell you guys might be inaccurate... so it'd be better if I didn't influence your answer with my over-reactions.

I wanna ask her out tonight... I've known her since 2nd week of semester... been a few months - I'm going to go for it regardless - but I just want to get some assurance on if I'm interpreting the "signs" properly!

Thanks.

PS:

I have cell number, dorm number, email, etc, etc... I didn't use CLEVER ways to get them though ;), I got them all from her, and she knows I have them... and she has my info too. So this isn't just some girl that I"ve noticed in the back of the room and ran auto infatuation!

Well, if her signs aren't clear...then make sure yours aren't either

aka:

ask her if she wants to do something tonight (maybe "hang out")...don't imply it's a date

therefore all problems avoided and life is good

I'm just afraid to get stuck in teh friend zone.... I don't really want that to happen.

Since I like her... I want to make it clear to her immediately (w/o coming on too strong of course - which I haven't cuz I'm not a stalker freakish type guy) [hopefully ;)]

In order to determine if she has ANY interest in you, we're gonna have to know SOME of the "signs" she's sending you. From what you told us, we don't know jack squat.

Sorry.

Its simple....

If you are ugly and she is not, it is most likely friendliness....
If she is ugly and you are not, it is flirtation

Ummm, good luck...cause sometimes it's freakin impossible to tell the difference. Girls are a pain in the ass and it's rare when you find one that's down to earth and doesn't play these pathetic games!!! The only way to find out is to ask her out. Over-analyzing will just make it worse, trust me. If you sit there and analyze every thing she has said to you then you'll get nowhere (been there, done that!). You just gotta grow some balls and ask.

Seriously though, it could be just in the girls nature to flirt. A lot of girls are like that, that way they are always practicing. My advise is ask her out to do something that is not date-like. Go bowling with a bunch of friends and you should b able to see if she is really interested in you. The worse thing you can do is to not ever say anything and just keep thinking about it.

Me thinks is that she likes you. If she has giving you all that info (cell number phone ..etc..) then she wants to talk to you or likes talking to you at the least. Give it a shot bro. Try not to stutter though.

How to tell? Pretty much the other folks got it down...
here's the formula... 2 parts personality + 2 parts interpretation = 100% confusion ;)

Regardless, whichever one you decide she's doing, it'll be the other one.

Go for it. One of two things will happen. She'll go out with you or she'll turn you down. Either way you'll know for sure and won't be left feeling uncertain. If she turns you down, no worries cause there a many more women at your school. Atleast ONe of them will go out with you :)

Two words for you...

GOOD LUCK

I've been married 11 years and still have "trouble distinguishing her movements"

Impossible to clarify.

And if it were possible, this is HARDLY the place to find out.

That's definitely not saying much on part of fellow Anandtech members... especially so for those who are married :(

hmm... i had this exact same thing happen. and i swear it started last quarter, and she had a boyfriend too. she's smile and giggle for no reason, i have all her numbers, etc. we'd hang out do whatever it was great. she broke up with the boyfriend, i told her how i felt. shot down , maybe i'll try again. i say proceed with caution.
