See topic title.

I have an ammo case full of bottle rockets/firecrackers and they are at least 5 years old. They've been in their plastic wrap and in that ammo box about the same length of time but seeing as they've been stored in a garage that has gotten to 0 degrees and as high as 100 degrees, I don't know that they are that safe.

Should I just contact the local fire department? Sales of fireworks are "Illegal" in my state... dunno if possession is. Could I get in trouble for taking them down the FD?

edit: It's probably 1000 each of bottle rockets and firecrackers, so lighting them all would take a while.

stick them in an old barrel, throw a match in and put on the lid. Then run away. Should make for a good show

Wait for the 4th of July, dig a hole, toss them in, pour lighter fluid over liberally, and throw a flaming stick into the pit.

Don't put them to waste. At least keep them until halloween and give them out to trick-or-treaters.

another vote for blowing stuff up but if you really want to disappoint us all soak them in water for a bit and then just toss em in the trash.

You could always send them UPS ground to me for proper disposal as well. I promise there will be a youtube video.

/Will even pay for shipping.

Hey, if you want 'em you can have 'em. (Or anyone that is over 18 [I will check ID])

But I'm definitely not shipping them.

You can ship them UPS ground, just like ammo and black powder, and they will be fine. They are no more dangerous in a shipping box than a 8lb jug of black or smokeless powder. Just have to ship them ground. ;)

Yes, but the issue comes with distributing them to states whose laws I am uncertain of. Not to mention that I'm sure I have to mention what's in the package to UPS who will promptly question whether I can legally possess and distribute them in MY state.

I'd just wait til the forth and take them to a party and light them off. I had some fireworks that were 10+ years old (bottle rockets) that I lit off and they worked fine.
