How to disable word from auto indenting and bulleting?

Try going under Tools --> AutoCorrect...

Uncheck the options you don't want under "AutoFormat" and "AutoFormat As You Type", and see if that does the trick.

I still use Word97, but I think its the same for the latter (2000, XP, etc.) versions....

Wow! There is a whole screen full of stuff that I never knew you could change in Word. I'm using 2000 and The autoformat tab has just saved me from getting a huge headache.
