How to disable touchpad?

Hey everyone,

I just got my i9300, and its real nice. I got one problem though, whenever i type, i rest my palms on the surface on the laptop, usually right over the touchpad. Whenever i accidentally brush the surface of the touchpad, it registers as a mouseclick. Thus, when im typing, suddenly my cursor gets clicked somewhere else and its getting really hard to type.

So anyways, is there a way i can disable the touchpad? Preferably only when i have an extra mouse plugged in.

Thanks in advance.

You can configure the touchpad options at Control Panel>Mouse. Under the Touch Pad tab you can disable tapping.

You can also disable it in BIOS. Many laptops auto disable the touchpad when you connect a PS2 or USB mouse. (Sometimes that is a setting in BIOS.) All current Compaq and H-P notebooks have a nifty on/off switch right on top of the pad. Should be a standard feature on all notebooks.

You can also use a program called Virtual Touchpad Cover: http://tygi.cjb.net/

I've used it before and it works very well. You just install the app and you can enable / disable the touchpad with a simple keypad combination (e.g. ctrl-shift-m or ctrl-m).
