I use a mouse with this laptop and while typing the touchpad is just an annoyance as every now and then my hand might slightly touch it and it will screw up my typing. I need to find a way to disable it at the hardware level (it's running Linux so anything Windows/driver based wont work)

I keep reading that you can tap it twice in the top left corner but I don't think that works on this model as I don't see a light or anything like these sites say I should be seeing. Anyone know how it can be disabled? This is a work laptop, so I don't want to do anything that involves opening it up. I'm sure I could just unhook it internally but I want to avoid doing that.

Is there something similar to device manager in Linux? In Windows you can go into that, and just disable the device/uninstall the driver.

Thanks, was not quite there since stuff is different between each distro it seems, but it got me in the right direction. In start menu / system settings / input devices / touch pad there was options I could disable for single tap acting as a click. The best thing is the touchpad still works and the actual buttons still work, but it solves the issue of my wrist touching it and screwing up typing.
