how to disable the disk full reminder?

How do I disable the reminders, I have a partition that only has 40+megs free .. is there anyway to tell the OS to stop reminding me that it's full?

Any minuses for having so little free space?

and yes, drive access speed slows down when a drive reaches 80 to 85% capacity.
