How to disable standby mode?

Okay, so I have a couple cats and once in a while they like to walk all over my keyboard at night while I sleep. The problem is that it pretty much shuts down my PC and the 10-15 or so downloads I have over bittorrent.

Another problem is that nothing will bring back my PC from standby. No moving the mouse, no key on the keyboard (even pressing the standby key does nothing) nor even pressing the power button for one second. The only option? Turn it off or reset.

Some of my specs:

Logitech Media Keyboard Elite (Logitech drivers not installed) PS2
Windows XP SP2
Antec P180 case
Asus P4S800D-E Deluxe
Antec True480 PSU
Logitech MX310 USB mouse

Those are the only things I would think would factor into having an effect on standby mode.

Does anyone know how I could permanently disable this option in the registry? If I downloaded the Logitech drivers for the keyboard (ugh!) could I turn it off? Should I just get a knife and pop the key out and put tape over it?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Take out the keyboard connector from it's connector on the casing. Reconnect it when you want to use it.

As for standby, there's an Always On profile in the Power Options in the Control Panel.

See the driver properties of the mouse and keyboard for enabling 'Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby'. It's probably on the last tab.
