How to disable "report this to M$" pop up when XP crashes

EXman

Lifer
I know it can be done but what is the step by step method? I hate it when it wants to rat on me! 😛

Running home to M$ and telling them who knows what about my compter is an invasion of my privacy to crash in private!

paranioa will destroy ya!

Hmm, let's see if I remember this correctly...

1. Boot from a Linux floppy.
2. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda bs=1024

Oh, wait, that was to nuke XP beyond any chance of revival. Silly me 😀

To disable error reporting:

1. Right-click my computer, select properties
2. "Advanced" tab, I think
3. "Error Reporting" button
4. "Disable error reporting"
5. OK out of all of those boxes.

Done.

Uh, XP has a Help feature. Searching on 'disable error reporting' returns this:

To enable or disable error reporting
Open System in Control Panel.
On the Advanced tab, click Error Reporting.
Click Disable error reporting or Enable error reporting.

Notes

To open System, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
If you disable error reporting, you can still have Windows notify you when an error occurs. To do so, select the But notify me when critical errors occur check box.
To report operating system errors, select the Windows operating system check box.
To report program errors for programs, such as Microsoft Word, select the Programs check box.

i) Try installing DOS and the problem is a goner 😀
ii) I've heard that Microsoft will expoit the BSODs and these ridiculous error report messages inthe means of pluging in ads 😀 ROFLMAO
