How to disable OS for computer sale?

Does anyone know of a way to disable my registered version of Windows 98se in a new computer that I am going to sell? I really don't want to format and loose drivers, etc.

Steve

If you're disabling the OS then why are you worried about drivers? AFAIK you're only choice is to format or delete selected files.

If you really need to pass on the drivers just put them on a CD or floppy if possible. You're probably going to want to format the HD just to get rid of all your stuff anyway.

One way to do that and be legal, is to get the buyer's copy of Win98SE and install it OVER yours. That will change the ID Key # to his/hers and preserve all your drivers and settings.

You can also then do a thorough registry scrub on your name to make sure nothing of "you" is left.

del win.exe

Nope! That would lose all the drivers and settings. All you really need is to change the ID code to the buyer's.
