How to disable onboard video?

Can someone PLEASE walk me thru Disabling the onboard graphics on my mobo ,so I can install my new AGP X1650 Pro video card? I just also added a Sound card and disabled the onboard sound thru BIOS, but can`t find anything for disabling the video. Thanks,,,Paul

I'm not too familiar with that model, but I will say a lot of motherboards will do it automatically.

It might just be changing which order it looks for video output. My MSI board would look for the graphics output in a certain order, so to turn off onboard, it was just a matter of changing the first graphics output to PCI-E.

That's correct - and one of the best ways to determine that is to study the mobo manual.

devicemanager?

i rightclicked my onbaord graphics then disabled it ? worked fine for 2 years while on that build.

There is nothing that says "onboard graphics" in device manager.
try zeroing the amount of video memory on the BIOS. giving zero megabytes of RAM to the onboard video would be the same as disabling it.....i guess.

EDIT: make sure you uninstall the drivers of your onboard video *before* you physically install the graphic card. to uninstall the current drivers, use the Device Manager (under Display Adapters).

device manager wont say "onboard graphics" it will list what graphics card or program its using. before you put the agp card in boot up your pc and look at whats listed for display adapters. install your agp and it should use that , the agp card , as the primary device. if not you open your display adapter icon, click properties and at the bottom you will have two options: enable or disable. pick disable and reboot. i have done that on two prior pc's i have owned with no problem.
