How to disable onboard sound in NT 4?

Hey all, need to know rather quickly. I'm looking at an HP Kayak with onboard Crystal Audio. I believe it's an i820 shipset. My question is, how do I disable the onboard audio in NT 4 to install a different soundcard? Say, an SBLive.

Thanks for any advice!

Hm.. interesting, the Dells came with crystal audio, I believe it's cirrus logics, I couldn't find a disable in BIOS.. but it should be in BIOS

Well I'll be. It was in the BIOS, nice and simple.

The only other time I needed to disable onboard sound was about two or three years ago, on a Compaq. It didn't have any settings in the BIOS, so I had to disable it through the device manager in Win95.

Thanks for the help!

Some motherboard manufacturers won't let you disable onboard audio, video and raid controllers. The good ones will. I hate working with the cheap integrated crap that you can't disable.
