How to disable on-board video on a Serverworks LE MB?

I have an old Dell 1500SC server from dell that I want to put a PCI graphics card in...only problem is, I can't figure out how to disable the on-board video.

Right now, the on-board video clashes with the PCI video card and I get no video output to the monitor, regardless of which video port the monitor is connected to.

As far as I can tell, there is no option in the DELL BIOS to disable the on-board video and I couldn't locate a jumper set that looks like it might work.

I'm using a visiontek PCI GF4 420 for the Serverworks LE motherboard.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Depends ... the video isn't in the chipset, it's a separate PCI entity somewhere on the mainboard.

The rude approach is to remove the VGA BIOS module out of the system's main BIOS binary, so that it doesn't even have a chance to start ...

So will doing that leave me with a board that will accept and use a PCI video card?

If I mess up what will I left with...a MB that no longer works?

thanks for your reply!

Maybe and Yes. You should have someone near you who can reprogram BIOS FlashROM chips.

One more thing to try before going that route is with a PCI graphics card that for sure is multi-display capable, like an ATi card. Too many NVidia chip cards out there that screw up when there's another VGA chip in the system.
