how to disable flash in IE?

I have IE 6 and IE 5 and my favorite web sites now have flash and I can't stand the jumping animated garbage that flashes across the screen. How do I remove or disable the flash plug ins that are installed? I've checked with the help in both IE and the main windows help and no mention of flash could be found.

I went to Macromedia's site and got the instructions. It's now disabled. much, much, much better.

I couldn't find how to do this on the Macromedia site. Do you have a link?

The problem is, after you remove Flash, every Flash site that you visit forces an IE window to popup. The window asks if you want to install software by Macromedia. Any idea on how to disable that?
