how to disable CCC 6.3 boot up and use ATT or AT

i read everywhere that people tell me to not use CCC 6.3 and use ati tray tools and i shouldn't use them together. so is there a way i can disable the startup of CCC and download and use only one of the above programs?
can someone give me a complete step by step of how to do this? thanks

Use add/remove programs to remove CCC. If you can't (because you downloaded the full driver package) then uninstall the drivers and install the base driver from ATi's website.

can u link me to what the "base driver" is from ati? i dont see that anywhere on their driver download page
