How To Disable Automatic Driver Downloads In Windows 10

Having all the driver updates automatically downloaded and installed may become a problem if you’re a Windows 10 user. These updates are innumerable and can easily eat up your bandwidth or even slow down your system. So, if you are looking for options to disable them then this is the right place. Here’s a quick guide on how to disable automatic driver downloads in Windows 10.

Step 1
Open the 'System Settings '

Go to the 'Windows' button on your PC and right click on it. This will open up a list of settings options. Select the one titled ‘System’ and a window should open.

Step 2
Open 'Advanced System Settings'

Head to the leftmost column of the window now open and click on the ‘Advanced System Settings’ option.

Step 3
'Navigate' Through The Settings

In the window now open select the ‘Hardware’ tab from the bar above. Now click on the ‘Device Installation Settings’ button.

Step 4
Disable the Download

A dialog box will now appear where you will choose the option ‘No (your device might not work as expected)’. Once done, click on the ‘Save Changes’ button at the bottom of this dialog box.

If you have followed the steps correctly the driver updates should not longer be automatically downloaded. If you want to change the settings back to normal simply follow the steps again and revert the change at the end.
