How to disable auto-refresh in NT Explorer (not IE)?

I know I saw this once but I cannot find it now. In Windows Explorer, the system will refresh the display of the file list if it changes. I need to make it stop doing that, and only refresh if we manually trigger a refresh.

We have tons of files in certain directories, with multiple people working in those directories at the same time. When Explorer is open, you can watch the cursor change to an hourglass for a second or so frequently (as the refresh takes place). The problem is if someone is trying to rename a file, they can be in the middle of the rename and the #&%*@ thing refreshes, scrapping the rename operation.

Any help? TIA.
