How to determine if it has AHCI

Looking to replace old motherboard. I have a Q6600 cpu socket 775. I want to use a solid state drive with Win 7 so i want a motherboard that supports AHCI but i dont have a clue on how to tell if a motherbord supports AHCI.

If i go to say newegg it doesnt have a search criteria for AHCI but it does for chipsets. So do certain chipsets support AHCI. I wanted to get an Asus brand motherboard but even going to Asus web site there is no mention of AHCI in the specs.

Or any reccomendation for socket 775 for Q6600 cpu prefer Asus that has AHCI support.

I do realize you dont have to have AHCI for solid state drive but want Trim to run automaticly and since i need a new motherboard might as well get a board that does AHCI.

If the only reason for getting the new motherboard is to get AHCI for TRIM, it's not worth it, in my opinion. There seems to be little sense in investing in a dead socket. I'd just stick with the existing motherboard, run the manual cleanup every now and then, and not worry about AHCI and TRIM until you can do a more complete upgrade.

I'm running an Abit IP35-E, which has no AHCI support, and an Intel X25-M G2. The performance in Win 7 Pro is still fantastic, so that's exactly what I'm doing.

Obviously, if you need to replace the motherboard for some other reason anyway, that's a whole different story.

I need to replace the motherboard for other reasons. So i need to figure out which socket 775 boards support AHCI. Iam not getting new board for this reason but want to get the board with AHCI since i need new motherboard anyway.

An Intel Raid chipset, such as ICH9R or ICH10R, will include AHCI support.
Not sure about possible support on older Intel chipsets, such as ICH8R or ICH7R.
There's also "El Cheapo" boards with non-Raid chipsets, such as ICH9; those won't support AHCI.
