How to determine Dead Pixels on a LCD screen?

I just bought a new LCD monitor and I heard some people talk about how to count dead dead pixels on them. Is there a way I can see if I have any on my LCD? Do I need to run some kind of software that would tell me? My LCD screen looks great but just curious.

Thanks!

THey are not too easy to find, unless they are stuck on one color. Just look for a tiny black dot, or one dot that doesnt change color. You can drag your start menu down so its not showing then change the background color to white, then black, then blue or someother color eachtime looking for a dead pixel. I haven't tried that, I just thought of it but it should work if you know your lcd might have dead pixels. Or dl this app. http://www.ekimsw.com/lcdtest/ Also its good to know sometimes dead pixels dont showup for a few minutes. On my laptop I have two that are stuck light pinkish. Chances are you wont find one if you got a new lcd 'cause the process in making them has gotten better and better!
Hope this helps ;)

Well ... you could always try making a full white screen, then full black screen, and full screens with colors and see if there's any dead pixels ...

I get mine tomorrow afternoon, I'll let you know if it works, lol

Monitorsdirect.com has a cool Flash based tool that does all that for you. It will also help you set your brightness and contrast settings.

I was thinking of just making a photoshop image @ the resolution of my monitor and pressing tab tab f or tab f f ... cant remember

It makes a full screen without the toobars. I guess the flash thing can do it too :)
