is there a way to detect what type of memory my computer is running othern than opening it up? a friend needs to know and i dont know of any other way. thanx
A program called sisoft sandra should be able to detect it. Is it a commercially built system like gateway, dell, etc? http://www.crucial.com/ Use their memory selector if it is commercial and it will say what type and size of memory the computer will accept.
You could also try the Belarc Advisor. I've suggested it to folks before with great success in identifying mobos, sound card, vid cards, etc. I've never actually used it, though ( 😱 ) so I don't know exactly what info it gives you. And it's only a 600K d/l.
