How to delete Windows XP installation

Hi,

I wanted to perform a repair installation for my Windows XP, but ended up installing a separate new XP installation next to my existing one. Now I get a dual boot prompt whenever I bootup.

How do I delete the new XP installation?

Thanks.

Is the separate XP installation on the same partition as the first, or is it on a new partition? If it has its own partition then you can just delete the old partition and reinstall the bootloader as necessary. If it's a shared partition you can delete the .Old directories and then remove the old XP entry from boot.ini.

Thanks. It's in the same partition. I followed a microsoft support article that advised me to simply delete the windows.0 directory, as well as the corresponding line in boot.ini. Seems to work.
