How to delete email from Outlook and Gmail server?

I use Outlook with Gmail pop. In Outlook I set it to leave a copy of messages on server and to delete only once I delete it from the Deleted Items folder. When I permanently delete the emails in Outlook and login to Gmail website the emails are still there. Is there a fix for this?
 
Why are you using POP3? Use IMAP, that way any changes you make on the client side will happen on your gmail account.. If you're stubborn, set it so it doesn't leave it on the server then.
 
I use MailWasher Pro by Firetrust. It lets me see all my mail boxes on any one's server - I can then delete them off the server, or accept them. I can even bounce them. I can even read them on the server without downloading. That way no unwanted email ever gets to my machines.
 
I am trying to do the same thing.

I tried IMAP and I understand exactly what it is and used it in the past but I want it simple without all the IMAP directories since I also use Outlook for Exhcange. I know I can hide some of them, but deleting the messages from the inbox in outlook did not remove it from the archive or all folder on the gmail server. I then tried to delete from the all folder in Outlook and it put a line through it which I hate, but I tried it anyway and then had outlook purge the messages and it still didn't work right deleting it from Gmail.

Erwin I think I found out a way to make it work with POP exactly as you and I want. It is currenlty working for me but the real test will be if the messages still exist on the server after 30 days.

Set up gmail with POP enabled and to keep Gmails copy in the inbox.

Now go to outlook where you configure the POP account (Tools, Account Setting, Change) and in the username field put recent: infront of your username. recent:username@gmail.com

Go to more settings Advanced and make sure Leave a Copy of Messages on the server is checked and remove from the server when deleted from 'Delted Items' is checked.

This appears to now be listening to the delete command from outlook and removing from the server when I want it to and it is not in the All mail either.

It is supposed to keep messages for 30 days and then removed pop ones. I hope it does not remove them since the setting for pop is set to keep gmail messages in the inbox.

Deleting messages from Deleted Items folder does not delete messages in Gmail. I just set Outlook to not leave messages on server.
 
I guess your saying it doesn't work for you.

It is working for me.

It doesn't delete it instantly you have to wait at least a minute or two.

It has to be set to leave on the server and remove when deleted and loggged in with recent:username@gmail.com
 
Actually both IMAP/POP users, when you delete files from Outlook, it is automatically archived -- you can see that mails that you delete in Outlook is still there, it just no longer shows up in Inbox. There is a sort of a workaround using the Google Labs Advanced IMAP (doesn't work for POP).
 
No that is not true. My mail is totally gone. Except for being in the trash. It is not in the All mail or archive and it is gone from the inbox.

When I tried using IMAP it did delete from the inbox and stay in the All mail or archive, but not with the way I have it set with POP. This is another reason why I didin't like using IMAP from outlook with gmail.

It does take 30 seconds to a minute for the delete to happen. Its not instant.
