How to deal with this trade?

Guy has 50+ heatware, said he would send me a check for some items I was selling in FS/FT. 2 weeks later, no check. I sent a PM on 12/09 letting him know that I will hold the items for him and ship as soon as I get his check, but I never got a reply.

Whats the customary time before its time to abandon the sale and put it back up for grabs? Does this warrent a neutral heatware rating ?

I don't think it warrents a bad heatware eval unless you don't hear from him for another month or month and a half. Remember, us college kids have/had finals, and then are going home. He might have gotten busy and forgot. Not that it is an excuse, gut you don't want to give a bad eval for something like that, necessarily.

Give him some time, but if you need to sell the stuff, I think you can go ahead and relist it.

Yeah, I know what it's like to get mad at someone for not having said or done anything, but most people on here told me that it wasn't enough to warrant a bad/neutral heatware eval, just from lack of activity. The time you wait is left to your own discretion, so if you're feeling ansy (sp? antsy?), just put it up again. 🙂 Good luck selling, regardless.

You may not leave negative heatware just because someone changed their mind about the deal and "forgot" to tell you about it. Negative heatware only applies to deals gone bad, such as you ship but never get paid, or he sent you less money then agreed or something to that degree. Deals that never took place may not be rated.

ding ding!

I agree Colt45, while you did not receive payment brtspears2, you also did not ship the items; I know it stinks that you held onto the items for 2 weeks, but you have your product and thus the only thing you have lost is some time IMHO.

Yeah, I'd say go ahead and relist it now and PM/e-mail him the link to the thread saying if he still wants it it's available here.

Do a search for his username...
And see if he's posted since you sent your PM. Also send him an e-mail with the same info. you PM'd.

Personally, if the dude has posted several times since I sent the PM, I'd probably toss the item back up for sale. Basically you want to give him plenty of latitude to let you know if he's sent the check or not.

Tell him in another PM and e-mail that you're going to post the item back up for sale if you don't hear from him in X-number of days.
