Thats it I gotta come outta the closet.......
I'm kinda seeing a republican :disgust:

She is really hardcore about it but, its entertaining in a way because...alot of her real thoughts fall on the left side of the line.....can she be rehabilitated(just kidding about that)?

Puts flamesuit on.....

I've never been one to want to be with someone like me so.....I dunno though we are on opposite ends of the spectrum....can it work?

If this should be in OT please move mods...I think it belongs in P&N though

couldn't one say the same for a conservative dating a loonie lib? thankfully I have never dated anyone who was too far left of center if at all, most of them and my wife are just right, not too conservative but not at all liberal.

If you're not willing to even entertain the possibility of changing your own views, why should she? I think this closed-mindedness ends a lot of inter-party relationships. D:

Maybe she will rehab you? Or maybe you can find that you agree on more issues than you disagree(common ground)

I was just kidding about the rehabilitation thing.....I respect her for who she is...if I didn't I wouldn't be involved

I don't know if I could "deal" with someone who was vastly different in ideology than I am....my wife and I are rather different people as it is without that being a barrier, I think people can be different in their hobbies and such but when it comes to basic beliefs and overall social opinions it is very difficult, so much so that it might not work.

good luck though, I know I couldn't do it.

Isn't Carville married to an extreme Republican?

I'm sure it can work, if you can separate your political leanings and your relationship.

How can her thoughts not co-incide with who she's voting for? Maybe she's unaware of the issues at hand, and what each party represents.

I honestly don't see much difference between the Dems and the Reps aside from some domestic and foreign policy issues. Taxes will be the same under both parties for most people. Only people making over 250K will be affected, along with some large businesses.

I'm guessing that the issues like abortion, Iraq, and healthcare are going to decide the election.

People who have brand-loyalty to political parties are not doing your country any good. If everyone makes an educated and informed decision, the end result should hopefully be positive.

My wife was very, very conservative. She was born and raised in the South. By the time I met her I was significantly more leftish. However, neither of us felt it was an impediment to our relationship. This is the first election where we've come together politically. I'm not counting on it happening again. :)

I think a healthy view of politics is that participating is the most important element in a democracy. No two people are going to have the same opinion about all the issues. Isn't that one of democracies' great strengths? We don't shoot each other, we VOTE. Or, we should vote. :)

I married a Democrat. Her whole damn family(except her Dad) are pretty much socialists. I never understood why her parents got divorced until the whole political issue came up. Her Mom is WAAAAAAAAY to the left and her Dad is a fairly middle of the road conservative.

How do we deal with it? We don't talk about it much. Espeically taxes....damn she has some messed up ideas when it comes to taxes.

Of course I think a lot of her beliefs stem from the fact that she has never really worked a "real job" and is currently working on her Masters. I can't wait until she finishes next May. Should be interesting to see how/if her views change once she is working full time in the real world.
