In the Mac OS X system, multiple users can be handled efficiently. You can set up an account for each person so that each of them can personalize their accounts based on their preferences. This will also ensure that the other users don’t get affected when the changes are made. In addition, Mac also allows you to create user groups. Here is how you can create a new user account in your Mac OS X system.
Step 1
Choose ‘System Preferences’
The first step is to click on the ‘Apple’ icon which is located at the left corner of the title bar. You should choose the ‘System Preferences’ option from the list of choices provided.
Step 2
Click on ‘User & Groups’
From the wide range of options present in the system preferences window, click on the ‘Users & Groups’ option from the systems tab to view the settings related to the user and group controls.
Step 3
‘Click the Lock to Make Changes’
Here you will find the list of users including the admin user getting listed on the left part of the window. You should now choose the ‘Click the Lock to Make Changes’ option as below to make changes to the setting to add a new user account.
Step 4
Choose the ‘+’
You should now choose the ‘+’ option to create a new user account in your Mac OS X system.
Step 5
Choose ‘Create User’
You will now find a dialog box like the one below. Choose your new ‘Account Type’, enter your ‘Full Name’, ‘Account Name’, ‘Password’ and ‘Password Hint’. After entering all the details, you should choose the ‘Create User’ option to create this new user account.
Step 6
On clicking the ‘Create User’ option, you will find the newly created user account to the list of user’s window as shown below.
Step 7
‘Restart’ the Computer
The last step is to click on the ‘OK’ option to restart the computer to enable the changes to happen to the newly created user settings.
‘Thus, you can now easily create a new user account, set up its password, password hint by following the above steps’.
