How To Create Custom Keyboard Shortcuts

Users might want an easier way to access an application in their system instead of rolling over the mouse pointer to an icon or by tapping the application tile. Keyboard shortcuts are easily considered to be the easiest and friendly way for users. In window 10, the users are allowed to create the custom keyboard shortcut for any application or program. Here is how you create the custom keyboard shortcuts for your referred application.

Step 1
Click ‘Start Windows’ icon

User must select the ‘Start Windows’ icon located at the taskbar as shown below. On clicking the icon, you will find recently accessed settings options of your system.

Step 2
Click the ‘Run’ option

Use the search feature to locate the Run option as shown below. Now scroll down the available list of settings and then click the ‘Run’ option to run the commands in your system.

Step 3
Type the command to open explorer window with all applications

The user must type the ‘explorer shell: AppsFolder’ in the Run command as shown below to open the windows explorer with all the applications present in the system displayed. Then the user must click the ‘OK’ button.

Step 4
Click ‘Create Shortcut’ option

In the explorer window, you will find all the applications present in the system. Scroll down to locate the application for which you desire to create a custom keyboard shortcut. Here Microsoft word is chosen. User must ‘Right-click’ the application and click the ‘Create Shortcut’ to create a shortcut of the chosen application.

Step 5
Click the ‘Yes’ option

User must click the ‘Yes’ option in the shortcut dialog box to create the shortcut of the chosen application on the desktop screen.

Step 6
Click ‘Properties’

User must ‘Right-Click’ the application shortcut present on the desktop. Now click the ‘Properties’ option to create the custom keyboard shortcut.

Step 7
Click the ‘Shortcut’ Tab

Now in the properties window of the chosen application, the user must click the ‘Shortcut’ tab.

Step 8
Type ‘Shortcut Key’

In the shortcut tab, the user must enter the ‘Shortcut key’ as shown below by pressing the preferred keys on the keyboard. Then click the ‘OK’ button to save the shortcut created for the particular application.

You can now easily create the custom keyboard shortcuts for your preferred application in your Windows 10 system.
