I would like to make and regularly update a bootable copy of my master physical drive including: C:/ formatted as FAT32 and extended partitions D:/ and E:/ formatted as NTFS running XP Pro. I am using a 160 GB master IDE hard disk and would like to make a bootable copy to a slave IDE hard disk installed in the same computer with the master disk.
-What would be a good choice of software to make this sort of backup as simple to do as possible?
-Besides swapping the cable, putting the original ?slave? drive in the ?master? position on the cable, are there any other specific hardware or software or BIOS changes that would need to be made as this swap is made?
-In the original configuration as proposed, would the slave drive partitions be F:/ for the boot partition and G:/ and H:/ for the extended partitions? And would this automatically change when the original master is removed and the original slave substituted as the new master?
-Does the original slave need to be absolutely IDENTICAL (Same mfg, model, size - in short everything identical but the serial #)to the original master, or need it only be as large or larger?
-Would there be any problem with the SID, and if so, what is to be done about this?
