Hello all,

I'm here gather some advice... I work for a prominent computer company that deals with hardware and software. I wish to not name this company except to say it is not small, its national.

Alot of things at work are done incorrectly and inefficiently, i'm by no means in a management position... so it's not up to me to run the show.

The problem is there are glaringly painful problems/inefficiencies in how we help our customers... but management (like most businesses probably) are not the guys doing the actual work, thus the inefficiencies at the company are missed.

Have I takled to my boss? yes. his boss? yes. even then both of them aren't at the "top".

I would like to create a blog detailing what I see at my work and trying to explain to customer's why they have so many delays/problems, etc in the work we do for them... maybe something like "Company X and the truth". Calling it a "whistler blower blog" might be extreme but I know there has to be thousands of unhappy customer's out there and I believe that if something or someone were to make the truth known to customers (instead of excuses) that things would actually change for the better.

My question is this; how do I do this w/o compromising my job? (Can NOT lose it) and keep customer info. confidential and yet remain totally anonymous?

Ideas? I know i'm surely not the first employee to make a blog about work frustrations...

Very noble idea.

But it won't work without losing your job.

Find a new job first, or just grin and bear. Hopefully your time to speak up will come.

Good luck!

BTW: Remember - you don't crap in your own nest!

Sorry - it doesn't work in real life, IMO.

Unless an individual is ready for a long and bitter and EXPENSIVE fight, it won't work.

In the EA Spouse's case, it was about the labor practices, not about the crappy service.

leegroves86 - if you're serious about keeping your job, just try to make small suggestions, and be happy if the bosses listen. You might be surprised how much satisfaction you get from several little improvements over the period of 1 or 2 years.

Otherwise - leave, or be prepared to leave, and do what your conscience tell you to do.

Good luck! You'll need it either way.

I'm going to step out on a limb and say at some point EVERY company makes decisions that leave people scratching their head. That's just what happens in corporate America... get used to it.

This has nothing to do with "General Hardware".
Please take it to "Off Topic" or the "Love and Relationships" forums.

Love and relationships... hahaha. OP, if you need the job, just don't. Nobody likes the person who hangs the laundry in the front yard, whether they are right or not.

whistler blower

a familiar word. an admirable activity, in some cases.

"the insider" ... i think that's a movie title. about
Dr. Jeffrey Ligand, and what the tobacco industry
did to him.

i suggest watching this movie before pursuing any
whistler blower type activity.

i had a woman friend who participated in a clinical
trial for LASIK eye surgery. she was crippled; the doctor left
metal dust embedded in her corneas. her bad
outcome was removed from the clinical trial results.

in my attempts to publicize this, i had 3 different
attorneys representing 4 different LASIK surgeons
trying to shut me up.

it was a lot like dealing with organized crime.

The original post contains a request to help to set Blog.

If some one want to help OP to set a Blog (of any kind, the topic is not an issue here) then go ahead.

I would leave the thread until the end of this day and if it stays the on the OT course I would move it to OT.

Any sort of blog will not help the company nor will it help you. This would be a lose-lose situation, so keep any ideas of blogging about inefficiencies etc to yourself.

Depending on your "status" within the company, write a professional memo to your supervisor. But don't whine; list the positive idea(s) you have to improve the company and how they (it) will help the company's bottom line. On the otherhand, if your motives are revenge or ego based, forget about it.
