How to crack the "Administrator" password in W2K?

I need to know. Of course by brute force, I could know. "Brute" means I could kick the guy, until he spits out the word. But I think it would be better, for both of us, if somebody here would tell me, how to get access to everything in W2K without the Administrator password, or, how to find out this password.

At home, I'm of course my own administrator (after the girlfriend and the dog), but at my workstation in my company, this little IT guy won't allow me to install all the nifty little things, I urgently need.

To find out the password you are going to have to crack it, through L0phtCrack or the like. You can also change the password to your own choosing through a number of ways. Do a search.

However, two other things. First, don't you think s/he will find out when either they are locked out, or new programs they didn't install pop up? Then you will be looking for a new job.

Second, I HATE users like you. The firm's computer is the FIRM's. Not yours. By installing "new" and unimproved programs, you are threatening the security of the whole network. Who knows what stuff you are going to install -- I bet it has to do with net access, and if so it's doubly dangerous.

Nahhhhhh, thanx for advice. Don't you think that "hating" is a bit too much? I just want to defrag my partitions, but this NT person is telling me, there is no need for this. I also want to instal Xset up, because by this I can accelerate several functions, as everybody knows. The problem is that this IT guy, doesn't have a clue. I also want to install SP-1, but because the HQ has not yet delivered this specific disk, he says, I cannot use the automatic update functions, and so it goes on.

Nah I don't hate you. I would really lock down your computer though if you were in my department ;) Sounds like your admin is a real idiot if he doesn't allow defrags, and his policy of not changing the comps doesn't seem to have much to do with security if you don't even have SP1 installed yet. Changing your comp doesn't sound like you would affect network security, as there doesn't seem to be any.

The truth, is I'm a Senior Director of this company. I could simply tell him to keep the system open or even worse, I could move him to another department. In Japan we still have a feudal working system. But he is just trying to do his job and it's important that everybody, even the management, follows the rules, at least apparantly. The guy even thinks, I'm a kind of crazy, because I'm so much interested in PC stuff.

That explains the tight secuity on your PC! And I am only 1/2 kidding, their is nothing more dangerous than Senior Manglement to the ulcer of your average Network Administrator!
