I have just got a new HDD 80gig to replace the old 40gig and want to copy everything from the old one to the new drive including the working Win2K system that has taken a lot of tweeking and patches to get running like it is. I don't want to have to reinstall the whole thing again.

What is the best way to copy the whole contents ?

PS: I can have both drives connected to the primary side one as master and one as slave. I have not formatted the new drive yet and it would be in NTFS format just like to 40gig.

Most HDD makers have utility that will do it.

Westen Digital= Data Lifegaurd
Maxtor= Maxblast

Both can be downloaded from the respective websites.
Make a disk and boot from it . Then follow the prompts.

You may have gotten the disk when you puchased the drive, at least if it was retail. Otherwise, download it from their website.

Data Lifeguard has NEVER worked for me when copying from one HD to another. For some reason I'm 0 and 3 and I've totally given up. I just say screw it now and reformat.
