how to copy folders in outlook express that's on an old harddrive

dell laptop crashed and their sending a new system. i have the old hdd.

how can i import the folders: sent, deleted items (maybe all the personal folders) from OE on the old hdd into OE on the new drive?

do a search for dbx files.
this will be the ones you are looking for.
also might be worth backing up the .adr or .wab for the address book

do i replace these files on the new system after i get it and add the email account i had on the old?

You have to get your *.dbx files onto your new notebook, then open Outlook Express and do File/Import/Messages. OE should then set them up the way you had them on the old drive.

OK, I usually just attach the old hard drive to my new system and let OE find the files, via Import, and set them up. I've never done it with a notebook so I'm not exactly sure how it will work. Guess I would try burning the *dbx folders onto a CD and see if OE will find them.

im connected to the old hdd via usb. i'll pull the .dbx files into the new notebook's desktop or anywhere? and then do the file/import
