I have my PC in my room and it makes it like a sauna in there. It gets to 80+ degrees. Even with the colder weather now its still super hot in there.

Is there any way to cool the room without using AC or opening a window?

I have a ceiling fan that runs on high 24/7 and I have another smaller fan that I run quite often but they don't do much.

open the window dude. i hate it when people just lock themselves in a room with their PC and it feels like a sauna when its 55 outside. Open a crack. If you get the window opening right, you can get equilibrium where it won't be too cold either.

I propose a complex and expensive series of ducts that funnel the hot air from your PC out of the room.

This is too obvious. The OP must not be telling the whole story.

I propose a series of radiators with tap water running through them.

I can't open the window because my father gets pissed off that I have a window open when it is so cold out. He says I am causing the whole house to cool down thus making the heaters run more and making his heating bill to run higher.

Obviously if I can't open a window, running AC is out of the question.

Can't leave the door open when my niece and nephew are there as they'd get in my room and destroy everything.

oh and yes, please give me non-sensical answers that will break the laws of physics, because that will really help me...

why not install an exhaust fan, not unlike the kind used to air out stanky bathrooms? vent it to the attic, that way it helps to heat the rest of the house during the winter and is taken care of b the gable fans during the summer? thats what i would do...

The ceiling fan HEATS your room. Ceiling fans alone CANNOT cool a room. Same goes with your smaller fan. All you are doing is creating additional heat. Fans make you think it is colder, but they do not actually cool.

Now, if you have adequate room ventillation, your fans can aid in that ventillation. In that case, they can have a very small impact on the temperature. But if that were the case, you wouldn't have posted this thread.

So the first step is to turn off things that generate heat when you aren't using them. That would be your computer, your lights, and your fans.

The next step would be to get proper ventillation. Since we aren't allowed to use the AC, can we at least tell you to turn on the building fan. If your vents and return are unblocked, that'll pump the heat out of your room into the rest of the house/apartment. Opening windows would help, but that is forbidden too.

The next step would be to do as people did for eons: wear less clothing. I know, it sounds impossible. But, believe me, if you are hot, then removing clothing actually helps! Sadly cavemen knew it, but 21st century man has mostly forgotten that little bit of information. Did you know the opposite is true if you are cold? You don't need to turn on a heater you can wear a sweater!

Finally, the most fun thing would be to vent your computer heat out of the room. A hole in a wall/floor and some ghetto tubing would work well. I'm thinking cereal boxes as tubing should be adequate. Plenty of duct tape will seal everything.

You don't have many options there without resorting to a lot of work. I'd open the window anyway. If you close your room's door and turn down the thermostats (if any in your room), it's not gonna really affecting heating all that much.

install a fire hydrant in the middle of the room. Open the hydrant when cooling is required. Don't forget to install a drain as well.

I can't believe this hasn't been said yet.

Move out of your parents' house.

step 1: close your door
step 2: open your window
when leaving your bedroom, reverse the process so your dad as no reason to know that the window is open.

or just turn your computer off.

If your door is closed your father won't notice the window is open. This way your room can be cool and you won't get beaten.

This. I used to do it all the time when I lived at my parent's house. It would be 30 below and I'd have the window opened a crack and the door closed to keep my room at a comfortable 20 degrees. Also helps to turn the PC off at night with the window open so it cools off over night.

Moving out is the best option but requires quite a lot more money, but save up and do it and you'll never regret.
