yeah, i also vote for staying out of his biz. if he wants to quit he will, you nagging him about it wont help the matter, if the 'second hand smoke' is THAT bad, then tell him how you feel, just dont expect him to bend over backwards so you dont have to smell smoke.

Just cut off the heads of cardboard matches (the ones that come in matchbooks) and stuff them randomly in the cigarettes, halfway down works great. Just as they are puffing away "FWOOSH" it lights up something fierce. Makes them think twice. And you'll get a good laugh.

I nearly got the crap beat out of me for doing this. I was laughing so hard I couldn't run away. 🙂

LOL you won't be able to convince your friends to quit smoking if it's the last thing you do. It's impossible, I've tried it.

You won't be able to convince your firends to quit smoking if it's the last thing you do. It's impossible, I was a smoker.

Seriously, you may as well try to reverse the planet's direction of rotation.

No matter how hard, long, or valiantly you fight, you will lose this battle. The only winning move is not to play.

You will lower your stress level and lead a happier, more fulfilling life if you decide to do something more productive with your time. Like watching paint dry.

Really. There's no way to win. Don't even try. He'll quit when he's ready, and not a moment sooner, no matter what you do.

start smocking yourself. and after they see how uncool it is on you, maybe they stop... meeting you...😛

What if someone held a gun to your head and said give it up? hehe

Second hand smoke is not as bad as most claim...pen and tellers "bullsh!t" show has shown this to us.

unless your friend has some mental disability, he's prolly seen all the anti smoking propaganda you have. Whenever one of my friends lights up the first cig, I say in a mock motherly joking tone..."You know...those are very bad for you young man". We joke about it because they know it's bad for them. It's also there to remind them that if they ever want to quit, they just need to tell me and I'll do whatever I can.

Honestly, it just sounds like you have a hard time accepting the fact that your friend does something you don't approve of. I mean, what else are you gonna do? Cut his meat and chew it for him to prevent choking hazards? Tell him to cancel wedding plans in april cuz it's likely to rain and he'll catch a sniffle? You're probably gonna say those are different and they are...but it still boils down to the fact that you don't give your friend enough credit to think he knows wtf he's doing and that you know how to live his life better than he does.

I think trying to stop a friend from inhaling crap into his lungs is a tad different from eating food. No one said anything about the friend not knowing its bad for him. If that's your attitudes, we might as well stop interventions to stop people from doing hard drugs or drinking alcohol by the gallon. And we should not help our neighbor's if they're being robbed or mugged or whatever because as you say, MYOFB.

This is the truth. All you're going to do is piss your friends off and make them resent you. Better to accept them the way they are, and encourage them when/if they decide to give it up themselves.

Is it wrong for him to care about his friends' health?
Yes, because his friend already knows and is tired of NOSY people being busybodies to him.
If his friend tells him to shut the hell up, he should shut the hell up. Can't hurt to show some concern though. My grandfather smoked for 20 years until I talked him into quitting.
Good for you! As I said, everyone knows the risk so mind your own fvcking business!
How bout you follow your own advice idiot 🙂 Good for Poontos for actually caring for his friend's lives.
Hey look! Another busybody!

Anyways, back on topic. You could sit down with them and calculate the cost of smoking, all the pros and cons and just let them see it on paper. After that, leave it to them. But if it bothers you so much, you should limit your contact with them. I did that with one of my friends after repeatedly trying to get him to quit. After that, he finally gave it up after he saw how it affected his friends and family. Now he's a much happier person. And I do know this because he's said so himself and thanked all of us for making him quit.
He was probably tired of you harassing him. He acts happy around you so you won't bother him.
How can you possibly continue to be so arrogantly presumptuous as to how people feel?
How can you be so arrogantly presumptuous that you are not being a fvcking busybody, and sticking your nose where it doesn't belong? If someone wants to quit smoking they don't need your fvcking help. All these people who are saying they "convinced" someone to quit, probably nagged them half to death and the decided to quit so you would STFU.
You keep presuming, and presuming wrongly. How the hell do you know why someone quit?
ahh just ignore him datalink7. He really has no clue. In his mind, he actually thinks he knows what he's talking about even when he's been proven wrong. 🙂
How was I proven wrong? I said people don't need busybodies to run their lives for them. Since you two are busybodies by trade, it would put a dent in your profits this past 1/4.
