How about this idea?

Tell them you are going somewhere. Take them to a junkyard with several pitbulls. Drop them off and laugh at them as you leave them in a cloud of smoke.

What's wrong with trying to convince your friend to stop smoking? It is bad for his friend, and as a friend I don't see it out of place to try to get him to stop.

If he isn't receptive to the attempt, and doesn't even want to consider quitting, well then mind your own buisness. But I actually think it isn't out of place to at least try once.

According to basic behavioral studies, if you punch him in the face, or smack him with a baseball bat everytime he smokes, then he will relate the smoking to the pain of a bat, and chances are he will give up smoking.

Because everyone over the age of 10 knows that smoking is bad. If they want to quit they will.
