How to convert WMVs

Anyone know how to convert WMVs into MPEG or some other more manageble format?

I did check VCD Help, and I didn't find anything on how to convert WMVs

Any help?

Pretty easy. Use Windows Media Encoder. I think it comes with WinXP. It's pretty much gonna guide you through the whole thing.

Hmmm, I didn't see an option in Encoder to convert WMVs to a different format. Any other suggestions?

You can use windows movie maker to convert it to an avi

Dump it in to TMPGEnc and convert it. Just drag and drop.

sorry, forgot to tell you that at the end...when Windows Media Encoder gives you a .wmv , you can just rename it to .avi in DOS and it works perfectly.

that's not converting, that's changing the file extension.

if you change the extension of blah.mp3 to blah.ogg .. it's still an mp3 but opens the same and plays in a compatible player.
