Any idea on how to convert plain text email files (UNIX, Thunderbird, etc) to Outlook pst format? Having a tough time with this one...

Unless Outlook has an importer the only way I could think of would be to setup a mail server and let Outlook get the mail from there. mbox is an open and simple format but outlook PST files and OE mbx files aren't, so converters aren't simple to write for non-MS people.

Hm, so is there maybe a freeware IMAP server i can run locally, drag all the Thunderbird email to it.. then grab it from Outlook?

In typical MS fashion, Outlook has a one-way importer. It's probably a wizard that picks up Eudora or Netscape mail folders automagically.

Exporting from Outlook is a real PITA. In my trials, Eudora just couldn't reliably retrieve messages from an Outlook PST file. I think it eventually worked using Netscape Mail, but it's very much touch and go.

If I'm not mistaken, mbox files just need CR/LF translation to be properly read by Eudora and Netscape Mail clients for Windows. In other words, I'm not sure if Outlook or OE can pick up UNIX mbox files and deal with them correctly. I wouldn't assume MS to provide the ideal, flexible, correct functionality.

The IMAP solution is no good.. when I copy messages over to my IMAP server, the received date gets set to right now.. so Outlook's AutoArchive won't touch those suckers for 6 months. I guess it's not a HUGE issue..but if I can't find any other way, I'll do it this way
