how to convert large mpeg files to smaller divx/avi or mpeg files.

Virtual Dub works pretty well! Hopefully this isn't a no-no to post this. I backup the DVD movies I own by making them into DivX. Makes it nice for a laptop that has no DVD drive in it. I find most of my stuff from http://divx.box.sk they have a large amount of info there on how to do it!
